The Los Angeles Lakers confirmed on Thursday night that the 40-year-old point guard will miss the entire 2014-2015 NBA season with nerve damage in his back. Nash, who has appeared in only 65 games in two years with the Lakers, experienced a setback in his recovery last week when lifting luggage. He played in 15 games with the Lakers last year, starting just 10. Drafted in the first round of the 1996 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns (15th overall) out of Santa Clara, the Victoria, B.C. native is an eight-time All-Star and was the leagues MVP twice in 2005 and 2006 as a member of the Suns. After two seasons in Phoenix after being drafted, Nash was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in the summer of 1998. He spent seven seasons with the Mavericks before returning to the Suns as a free agent in 2004.
