CALGARY, Alberta -- The Minnesota Wild were great in October but fell to slightly below average in November and begin December in Alberta trying to turn things around. The Wild surrendered a lead for the third time in six games Tuesday in Vancouver, prompting frustrated head coach Bruce Boudreau to cancel a day off on Wednesday in Calgary and replace it with a 70-minute practice. We have to be better, thats it, right wing Jason Pominville said after the 5-4 loss to the Canucks. Obviously, we are disappointed. Were not happy with the result we got. We have to take a couple of days here, get some rest, get some practice and get back to work. After starting the season with a 6-2-1 October, the Wild slid to a 5-6-2 November, and they begin shopping for pre-Christmas victories Friday against the surging Calgary Flames.Well regroup, Boudreau said. We have two days before our next game and two practices before our next game. Well see where we stand.Wednesdays practice focused mostly on how to avoid odd-man rushes, which was a big part of the Vancouver game. Boudreau called out the line of Zach Parise, Eric Staal and Charlie Coyle for their misdeeds, and Parise took ownership when he stood in front of media in Calgary. We didnt support each other very much up the ice, turned the puck over a lot in the offensive zone, he told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. It was just one of those games. We couldnt get much going. It happens.Boudreau spoke to that line about doing better.Theyre good players and theyre all professional and theyre going to get back on track. Wed like to see, and we havent seen it too often, that all the lines are going at the same time. ... Theyre good players. Its a good team. Well find out way again Friday, he said.Coyle offered this after Thursdays practice: Weve got to be ready to come out right away and get to our game fast. While the Wild were trying to sort through their problems while awaiting Fridays game, the Flames were continuing to ride the hot goaltending of Chad Johnson, who stopped 39 shots to blank the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-0 Wednesday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.Johnson was brought to Calgary to back up Brian Elliott, but he has taken over the No. 1 role by going 6-2-0 with three shutouts and a 1.50 goals-against-average in his last eight starts. He became the first Flames goaltender to record three shutouts in one month since Fred Braithwaite did it in December 1999.The Flames returned home after playing six games in nine nights and going 3-2-1. They are now 11-13-2 and within sight of .500 thanks to Johnson. He was fantastic, Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan said. We were a tired hockey club. (The Leafs) are in there back-to-back, I understand that, but six in nine nights and coming back home from New York, we were a tired club. I loved our start and then when you get a goaltending performance that Johnny gives us, it gives you a chance. The Flames begun the Johnny Gaudreau watch in earnest recently. The star winger returned to practice Wednesday for the first time since breaking a finger on a slash from Staal in Minnesota on Nov. 15. The Flames said then hed be out four to six weeks and hes now in his third week of recovery.Calgary are 5-3-1 without Gaudreau. We said when Johnny was injured that this was a chance for us to solidify and come together and have other guys step up and solidify a good defensive base, Gulutzan said.Do we get away from that at times, certainly we do. But, were coming together and learning how to play and learning how to reduce the goals against. Gerald Everett Womens Jersey . SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, Belgium -- Tyre management is likely to be the key to success at the Belgian Grand Prix after teams and drivers have struggled to cope with the unusually high tyre pressures prescribed by Pirelli this weekend.Pirelli prescribes the tyre pressures ahead of each grand prix weekend, and since two tyre failures at the Belgian Grand Prix last year, those numbers have been enforced by the FIA to ensure tyres are not pushed beyond their limit. This weekend the pressures are set at 23.5 PSI at the front and 22 PSI at the rear, but several drivers have complained they are too high, resulting in overheating, blistering and high levels of performance degradation. The pressures are unbelievably high, McLaren driver Jenson Button said. Its amazing what we have to do to get these tyres in the working window. If you push on your outlap they are done by Turn 3 with blistering and overheating. What we have to do is crazy and Ive never had to do this before in my F1 career. Its the pressures, obviously its not helped by the temperatures, but we go to hot countries and I think Pirelli know that. Its a shame we are so high with the pressures because we are in a position at the moment where you cant push the car, you are just rolling around the whole time with the tyre.Pirelli motorsport boss Paul Hembery said the unusually high temperatures at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend -- which have been around 32-35C, but were slightly cooler on race day morning -- are also contributing to the high degradation levels. The high track temperatures have increased the wear and degradation rates on a circuit that is already very demanding on tyres, he said. Were expecting two or three pit stops per car, depending on degradation rates. But Williams head of vehicle performance, Rob Smedley, said the pressures are the key contributing factor to degradation, regardless of temperatures. If theres any talk about the tyres there will be certain quarters that come here and defend it because its unnaturally hot, but we shhouldnt hide behind the fact that running 24 PSI round here gives us massive degradation, he said.dddddddddddd The modulus [tyre compound choices] is slightly on the more aggressive side, but the pressures are the principle reasons why we are having high degradation. Its a simple fact and we shouldnt hide behind anything that might help out certain quarters. We were upwards of trying to bleed off 30 seconds on the outlap [during qualifying], which is not normal at all. But with the very high starting pressures that we are obliged to run, it means that on track, even on one timed lap, we are still well above 22 PSI and on the longer runs, without management, they can get up to 24 or 25, as we saw in Firday practice. Its an area of the tyre we dont usually explore. For us we are desperate to try and get the pressures down because there is more performance and we understand the tyres more at those pressures, so we can act accordingly. Its a problem for all of us.Lewis Hamilton has already made clear that he expects to struggle with the tyres as he comes through the field from 21st on the grid, with the challenge of following in another cars dirty air making tyre management all the more difficult. Two or three stop strategies have been predicted by Pirelli, but Hamilton could have an ace up his sleeve after saving three sets of brand new soft tyres for the race -- a compound designed to work in high temperatures, unlike the super-soft and mediums.Meanwhile, team-mate Nico Rosberg will start from pole position on the soft tyres after using that compound to set his fastest time in Q2 and has two sets of new medium compound tyres available for the race, as well as one fresh set of softs. The two Ferraris and Daniel Ricciardo will also start the race on softs, but the rest of the top ten must use the super-soft at the start, which is only expected to last a handful of laps. ' ' '
