The International Ice Hockey Federation is awaiting for the NHL and NHL Players Association to resolve the Olympic issue.IIHF president Rene Fasel has said several times during the past month that he believes he has come up with the money to cover the cost of NHL player contract insurance and travel, which he relayed again last week during a meeting with national hockey federations that included USA Hockey and Hockey Canada. Now Fasel awaits the decision from the NHL and NHLPA in the next month.Last week we met with the 12 participating teams to inform them of the ongoing developments in Korea, Fasel said Tuesday in a statement to ESPN. As I said before the door is wide open for all players to participate in the Winter Olympics, it was a challenge this year but we did our homework. We will await the league and the PAs decision and hope for a positive result. We do not wish to comment directly on what is now a matter between the NHL and the NHLPA.International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach has balked at paying previously covered expenses for NHL players from past Olympics, including contract insurance and travel. That has left Fasel to scramble together a financing plan which he detailed to federations last week. While exact details arent known, its believed some of the money would be coming from federations, which perhaps is not ideal for the likes of USA Hockey and Hockey Canada when that money should be going to youth hockey development. The IOC was also asked for comment Tuesday by ESPN. The organization, via its media relations team, responded: The IIHF is currently discussing this with the NHL and you would need to speak to them for more information.Last week at the NHLs board of governors meeting in Palm Springs, Florida, the league and owners presented a negative view of South Korea Olympic participation, although they fell short of taking a vote and shutting the door 100 percent to going to the Games again.Sources told ESPN that no official meetings are on the agenda presently. That may certainly change, and a decision must be taken, either way, by Jan. 15.Another source told ESPN that NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr and commissioner Gary Bettman were scheduled to speak at some point next week.A vote would likely not be needed from NHL owners if the decision is not to go, however, its expected a vote would be needed if the league agrees to an Olympic deal.Jim Brown Womens Jersey . -- Gus Malzahn finally had his day in Fayetteville.
