RENTON, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane said he heard from San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick last week after Lane sat during the national anthem prior to the teams fourth preseason game.He reached out to me and just told me thank you, standing behind me, Lane said.Lanes decision came less than a week after Kaepernick first sat in protest of American racial injustice and minority oppression.Lane said he plans to continue to sit going forward. Asked if he expects any teammates to join him, Lane said, I dont know. I dont want to put any pressure on anyone. Im doing it for me.In coordination with his protest, Kaepernick said he will donate $1 million to various causes. Lane said he didnt know if he would follow suit.I havent thought about that, Lane said. Not saying I wont, but I havent thought about that.Lanes teammates said they stand behind him.I think its his right to be able to protest, and I think its all right, defensive end Michael Bennett?said. Theres definitely some issues in America that a lot of people are starting to recognize. I think people have recognized them before, but I think with social media and the things that are going out, the media outlets, everybody has a chance to really show what is going on and their ideas and really having a chance to really protest what they think is wrong with America. And thats OK. Thats what its about. Its about people having that right to have their voice, and I think its cool that Jeremy Lane is doing what he wants to do. Obviously, theres so much going on right now in America. Footballs just a small part of what we do. At the end of the day, well be football players for 12 years or 10 years or whatever it is. But at the end of the day, were still minorities and black men in America, and thats what were going to be for the rest of our life. And if you want to protest about things that are going on, thats fine.Added safety Kam Chancellor:?I havent talked to him about it. I really dont know what to say about that. Thats his own beliefs and his own thing he wants to do. Hes supporting somebody he believes is doing it for the right cause and the right reasons. So thats just freedom of speech.Bennett said Seahawks players and coaches talk often about the issues Lane and Kaepernick are protesting. Its not just the African-American players. Its the white players too, Bennett said. They all see it, and we talk about it. Its good. Its good that we can have a conversation about it, and people dont get angry and people understand where people are coming from, and you just understand both sides of it.Stephan Lichtsteiner Jersey . -- There were a lot of firsts for the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. Numbers Game examines the deal that sees Michael Del Zotto and Kevin Klein switch places. The Predators Get: D Michael Del Zotto.Organisers of the Mexican Grand Prix believe the event is on course to break the 350,000 mark for attendance over the race weekend this year, an increase of 14,000 from 2015.Mexicos memorable return to the calendar last year was widely praised after the event, with Niki Lauda saying the carnival-like atmosphere made it once of the best F1 races ever. The final sector, which weaves through an old baseball stadium and hosted the podium ceremony, was especially popular with fans and drivers alike.?New additions to the calendar have generally seen attendances drop away after the novelty of the first year has worn off. But with additional capacity added to the circuit this season Rodrigo Sanchez, the director of marketing and media relations for the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, thinks Mexico can buck that trend in 2016.?Last year we did 336,000... so if we can get to that 350,000 it would be amazing, Sanchez told ESPN when asked about expected attendance for this years event, which takes place on October 30. The preparations are pretty fantastic. We are just around the corner, around 47 days from the race, so everything is pretty good, going on schedule. We had the WEC [World Endurance Championship] race a couple of weeks back at the track, so basically were fully moving [our focus] to the track and all the loading, all the production, all that stuff. Its really going very well. After such a successful return race, the countrys first since 19992, Sanchez says the event organisers see no reason to make drastic changes this year.ddddddddddddo far, were 93 percent sold out, so theres very few tickets left. I think the response of the public has been absolutely amazing. Its really nice to be 47 days out and only have to worry about seven percent of the inventory. The difference from this year to last year is why fix it if its not broken? Its about enhancing more of what we did last year and be able to provide fans with the right set of tools or circumstances for them to really express that very unique passion and replicate that very special event that we had last year.Sanchez believes the attendance will be boosted by the fact Mexico has two drivers on the grid instead of one, with Esteban Gutierrez set for his first home grand prix alongside Sergio Perez.?For sure, I think this is a special year. For the fans its going to be a treat to see two full-time Mexican drivers at the grand prix, so thats going to be great. The results Sergio has been having in the first half of the year have been absolutely amazing. We have a saying here that we go to church every Sunday hoping we can see another podium in Mexico! I think the world would be amazed at the reaction if one of our drivers really performed and really got on the podium. So were praying about that. ' ' '
