John Chick is open to returning to the CFL, and his first choice would be the team he played for from 2007-09, the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The defensive end and former Most Outstanding Defensive Player (2009) spent the past three seasons in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars. Now a free agent, Chicks agent said the 30-year-old is open to a return north of the border. Speaking on "The Green Zone" CJME Radio Regina, Chicks agent Gil Scott said he contacted the Roughriders last week to let them know he would be open to a return under the right circumstances. "It would have to be the right price," Scott said. "We know how the CFL is structured; we know what CFL contracts are like; we know its not the same as the NFL, were prepared for that; but it has to be the right number." While the CFL is certainly an option for Chick now, he hasnt closed the door on any opportunities in the NFL should they arise. "If somebody calls today, the door is still open. Doors never close until you sign a contract. My point in calling the Riders was to say that he is now considering the CFL and whoever gets his name on a piece of paper the fastest will end up with him, whether its an NFL team or a CFL team." While Scott did say how much Chick enjoyed playing in Saskatchewan and that his client wanted to give the Roughriders the first shot at signing him, other teams in the CFL have also expressed interest. The Hamilton Spectator reports that Tiger-Cats head coach Kent Austin said the team would probably have interest in Chick, but that it hasnt been fully discussed as of yet.
