Former Tottenham Hotspur, Jermain Defoe - in hopes of making Englands squad for the upcoming World Cup - saw MLS as his best showcase. Michael Bradley, who some argue to be the strongest American player in the world, also left soccers more glamorous European stage, departing AS Roma for more playing time in preparation for Brazil this coming summer. This weekend saw both players delivering on their marquee reputations in front of a sold out crowd at TFCs BMO Field. Defoe maintained his status as the sole goal scorer of the team, netting his third of the season, while Bradleys midfield presence and decisive passing continues to impress. A second-half collision forced Bradley to leave the field, only to return with his head semi- mummified with blood soaked bandages, displaying a trait that will undoubtedly endear him to Canadian fans. Ramos, who was in charge at White Hart Lane for a single year between 2007 and 2008, replaces Javier Gracia, who is moving to Russian club Rubin Kazan. The reason for coming back is because I have some lasting memories, and the project is very interesting, said Ramos, who previously coached Malaga in 2003/04 before moving on to manage teams such as Sevilla and Real Madrid. The approach to the project is medium to long-term, and growing as much as the situation allows within the league.Professionally speaking, I have talked to those in charge at the club, they want to achieve important goals, and within the short to medium-tterm, we will improve a great deal.ddddddddddddAnd we want to compete with the greats. They are extremely ambitious within this club, and that is really the reason for coming to Malaga. In an interview published on Malagas website, Gracia said that he had accepted an irresistible offer from Rubin for the next four seasons, a day after the Spanish club had announced his departure.Spanish sports newspaper Marca reported that Gracia would sign a four-year deal worth 12m Euros (£1.52m).
