Here are some things to watch in Week 12 of the Southeastern Conference football season:GAME OF THE WEEK: No. 21 Florida at No. 16 LSU: These two teams finally are meeting six weeks later than expected and at a different site than anticipated. The threat of Hurricane Matthew delayed the scheduled Oct. 8 Florida-LSU matchup in Gainesville. After the teams debated on how theyd make this game up, the matchup was rescheduled for this Saturday in Baton Rouge. Florida can clinch its second straight SEC East title with a victory, but the Gators head into this game as 13 +-point underdogs. This game features two of the nations strongest defenses. Florida is ranked second nationally in pass efficiency defense and fifth in scoring defense. LSU is seventh in scoring defense. Both starting quarterbacks -- LSUs Danny Etling and Floridas Austin Appleby -- are Purdue transfers.MATCHUP OF THE WEEK: Missouri WR JMon Moore vs. Tennessee CB Cam Sutton: Were going on the assumption that these two players will be lining up against each other for at least part of Saturdays game. Moore has 47 catches for 743 yards and eight touchdowns, and he ranks third in the SEC in yards receiving per game. Hes coming off a two-touchdown performance against Vanderbilt. Sutton, a team captain and four-year starter, returned last week from a fractured right ankle that sidelined him for six games and broke Tennessees record for career passes defended.NUMBERS GAME: Alabama has been ranked No. 1 in 33.8 percent of the 133 games coached by Saban. ... LSU has beaten Florida each of the last three years. That represents LSUs longest winning streak in this series since the Tigers beat the Gators four straight times from 1977-80. ... Austin Peay, the Football Championship Subdivision team facing Kentucky this week, has lost 26 consecutive games and 44 of its last 45. Austin Peays only win since the start of the 2013 season was a 20-13 victory over Murray State on Oct. 18, 2014. ... Tennessees Derek Barnett has recorded 10 sacks each of the last three seasons. His 30 career sacks are two shy of Reggie Whites school record.UPSET WATCH: Vanderbilt is a 10-point underdog at home against Ole Miss. The Commodores have struggled this season, but have kept most of their games close. They also have a very good defense that will face Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson, who is making just his second career start. ... Florida is a 13+-point underdog at LSU despite the fact the Gators are playing for the SECs Eastern Division title.IMPACT PERFORMER: Patterson: The Ole Miss quarterback was stellar in his first career start, leading the Rebels to a come-from-behind win against Texas A&M on Saturday. Patterson threw for 338 yards, two touchdowns and one interception and also ran for 64 yards. Its been a tough season for Ole Miss, which is just 5-5 after starting the season with high expectations, but Pattersons emergence gives the program some hope moving forward.---AP Sports Writers Steve Megargee in Knoxville, Tennessee, and David Brandt in Jackson, Mississippi, contributed to this story.-----AP College Football website: www.collegefootball.ap.orgHurricanes Jerseys 2020 . ATLANTA -- It may be a long time before Julio Jones sees another rookie cornerback assigned to him in man coverage.Give credit to Jones for taking advantage of that mismatch Sunday and proving again that hes one of the NFLs top receivers.Jones had the leagues first 300-yard receiving game in three years and Atlanta beat Carolina 48-33.The Falcons (3-1) strengthened their early hold on the NFC South lead. Carolina (1-3) had increased reason for concern even before losing quarterback Cam Newton to a concussion in the fourth quarter.Atlantas offense, already ranked first in the NFL in points and yards, continued to roll in its second straight game scoring 45 or more points and third straight with at least 35.Matt Ryan passed for a team-record 503 yards and four touchdowns, while Jones had 12 receptions for 300 yards to set another Falcons record.According to information provided to the Falcons from Elias, it is the first time teammates posted the 500-300 combo in a game.Panthers rookie cornerback James Bradberry was overwhelmed in his tough assignment to cover Jones. It didnt take long for the mismatch to become obvious.Ryan completed passes to Jones on Atlantas first three plays for 22, 14 and 15 yards, showing the Falcons plan to take advantage of a secondary still struggling to replace Josh Norman, now with Washington. They put the young corner on me man to man ... and Matt made some great decisions today, Jones said. The Panthers had success containing Atlantas running game, but it mattered little with Jones making catch after catch. We tried to cover him, said Panthers coach Ron Rivera. We did some things and apparently it didnt work and he did some good things and made some really big plays. ... It was hard. We thought we had a good plan coming in.Jones had a 75-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter. It was a humbling loss for the Panthers, the defending NFC champions.Rivera said it is time to find out who we are.Well find out about our character and whether or not were going to head in the right direction, Rivera said..dddddddddddd Thats the biggest thing more than anything else. Its not time to panic. Weve been there before. Here are some things we learned from the Falcons win:NEWTON OUT: The Panthers may have to face Tampa Bay next Monday night without Newton. Due to NFL policy on players sustaining concussions, Newton was not available for postgame interviews and Rivera had no update on the injury. Derek Anderson, who threw two interceptions and two touchdowns after replacing Newton, would be the fill-in starter. He did some really good things with the exception of the one he thought he was throwing away, Rivera said.BALANCE IS GOOD: Jones big day overshadowed another successful effort by Ryan to distribute his passes to many receivers. He completed passes to nine players. Jacob Tamme, Austin Hooper and Aldrick Robinson also had scoring catches. Its been really good for us spreading the ball around and getting a lot of different people involved, Ryan said.STILL A CHANCE: Perhaps the most encouraging sign for Rivera was seeing his team rally to trail only 41-33 before Robert Alfords 30-yard interception return for a touchdown ended the comeback hopes. We gave ourselves every opportunity and just didnt get it done, Rivera said. I have to find a way to make sure we do going forward.CALVIN AND JULIO: Jones is only the fourth player in the Super Bowl era to have at least 300 yards receiving in a game. He is the first since Detroits Calvin Johnson had 329 yards against Dallas on Oct. 8, 2013.INJURIES: Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis left the game with a hamstring injury early in the second half. Wide receiver Devin Funchess left the game in the fourth quarter with a toe injury. Bradberry returned after he was taken to the locker room in the first quarter with a left toe injury.Falcons linebackers Jones and Sean Weatherspoon sustained calf injuries.---AP NFL websites: http://pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
