Former Sri Lanka offspinner Muttiah Muralitharan has become the first player from his country to be voted into the ICC Hall of Fame. He will be formally inducted into it later this year, along with the late England fast bowler George Lohmann, the late Australia opener Arthur Morris and former Australia Women captain Karen Rolton.Murali is the leading wicket-taker in both Tests and ODIs, and one of only two players to tally over a 1000 wickets in international cricket, in a career that spanned 19 years, from 1992 to 2011.Lohmann, who played in the 1880s and 1890s, became the fastest bowler to 100 Test wickets when he got to the landmark in March 1896, in his 16th match, and the record has stood for the 120 years since. Morris was part of the Invincibles in the Ashes of 1948, where he aggregated 696 runs at 87, outscoring Don Bradman. The highlights of Roltons international career, which lasted from 1995 to 2009, included a knock of 209 not out at Headingley in 2001 - then the highest score in Womens Test cricket - and a century in the World Cup final of 2005. She was named captain in 2006.ICC chief executive David Richardson said he was pleased that the list of latest inductees featured players from such a wide-ranging time span. We have in the list some very famous names of different eras, Richardson said. Muralitharan has been one of the greats of the modern era. Lohmann and Morris were outstanding performers during their times and are part of cricket folklore, while Roltons performances have been recent and came during an era when womens cricket became very competitive. Red Bull boss Christian Horner has labelled Mercedes management naive for not anticipating Lewis Hamiltons tactic of backing up Nico Rosberg at the title-deciding Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.Hamiltons spent the final stint of the evening race driving well below full capacity in an attempt to push teammate and title rival Rosberg into the clutches of Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, which ultimately failed. Hamilton later reasoned that it was the only thing he could have done given the fact he needed Rosberg to finish off the podium to claim a fourth world title.Mercedes boss Toto Wolff admitted he was in two minds about Hamiltons strategy, as the three-time world champion ignored a team order to pick up the pace. Horner, who had predicted the tactic going into the race weekend and defended Hamilton immediately afterwards, cannot understand why Mercedes management was surprised at how the final laps unfolded. With where tthey were at, it was just down to those two guys, Horner said.dddddddddddd So it was only ever going to be that kind of battle between the two of them. Congratulations to Nico, he has driven a great season. He is a very worthy world champion, but it was na?ve to think that there would be any different approach to this race with what is at stake.Horner also took another swipe at Wolffs decision to call Max Verstappens father, Jos, ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix, and suggested the Austrian take more time to talk to his own drivers than worry about the business of other teams.I understand that Toto has suggested that Lewis follow my instruction rather than his, and that he should come and drive for Red Bull! Maybe it works better to talk directly to the driver rather than their father... ' ' '
