In 2023, Seiko released the Prospex GMT, inspired by the 1968 300-meter professional diver's watch. Over the past two years, the collection has continued to expand. Now, the brand introduces the Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT Seashadow (Ref. SPB534), featuring a classic color scheme.
The new watch measures 42 mm in diameter and 13.3 mm in height. The case is crafted from stainless steel with a super-hard coating, giving it a sturdy design. Equipped with an internal anti-reflective sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown at 4 o'clock, and a sealed caseback, the watch boasts excellent water resistance to 300 meters. The unidirectional rotating bezel features a black ceramic insert and a 60-minute diving scale.
The glossy black dial is accented by gold-tone hour, minute, and second hands, applied hour markers, and a fluted bezel, creating a classic black-and-gold color scheme. The hands, hour markers, and dot markers on the bezel are coated with LumiBrite for optimal readability in low-light conditions. A gray GMT hand, combined with a 24-hour scale on the outer edge, indicates a second time zone and can be adjusted independently. A date window is also located at 4:30.
The caseback is engraved with "LIMITED EDITION" and the exclusive limited edition number. Inside, the 24-jewel 6R54 automatic movement beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3Hz) and boasts a 72-hour power reserve. The 6R54 movement displays central hours, minutes, seconds, office GMT, and the date, and can be stopped to allow for precise time adjustment.
The Seiko Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver's GMT Seashadow SPB534 watch comes on a stainless steel bracelet with a triple clasp featuring a safety lock, a push-button closure, and a fine-adjustment extension mechanism.
