George Groves is confident he will land another world title shot next year before a British super fight against either James DeGale or Callum Smith. While his bitter British rival DeGale looks forward to a world super-middleweight title unification clash against Badou Jack in New York on Jan. 14, Groves (24-3, 18 KOs) faces Kazakhstans Eduard Gutknecht (30-4-1, 13 KOs) for the fringe WBA International belt at Wembley Arena on Friday.Groves hopes it is a stepping stone towards a WBA world title fight which he says will set up up a rematch with DeGale (23-1, 14 KOs).Ideally I would win the WBA world title belt before a big domestic fight against James DeGale or Callum Smith, Groves told ESPN.Winning a world title belt means I would bring more to the table and get a better deal when it comes to a big domestic fight. But if I dont get the WBA opportunity and Callum doesnt get a [WBC title] fight, then that could be a fantastic fight for early next year.If DeGale gets through against Jack I would be prepared to fight him next summer. I think those fights will probably happen next year, if they want them like I do.IBF champion DeGale, whose only defeat was to Groves on points in 2011, has this week had belated confirmation of his date with WBC champion Jack after boxing just once this year.Groves is not convinced DeGale will prevail against U.S.-based Swede Jack, who the 28-year-old lost a split decision to in September 2015.When I boxed Jack, everyone wrote him off, Groves said. After he beat me he got a lot more credit and hes a very underrated fighter still.James likes to fight for one minute out of three each round and he cant do that against Jack in the U.S. Jack will not stand still. It might be a boring fight and I honestly dont know whos going to win it.Victory over Gutknecht, who was out-pointed by Juergen Braehmer in a world light-heavyweight title fight in March, will move Groves closer to a crack at the WBAs vacant super world title.Groves is ranked third by the WBA, whose premier world title was vacated by Felix Sturm. The German is being investigated after he tested positive for a banned substance. The WBA super title is up for grabs and I want to make sure Im in a position to fight for it next year, Groves said.Thats plan A and Im hoping something will come off, maybe I could fight Fedor Chudinov for it.Joe Kelly Jersey .
